I subscribe to the belief that a painting is never really finished; but that there are an infinite number of very beautiful and emotional resting places in which to pause. An abstract painting is a snapshot of one of an infinite number of possibilities of visual expression, and it changes frequently in my art studio.
What follows are the paintings that I have worked on most recently. Any one of them is susceptible to change on a moment's notice... sometimes seemingly on their on volition. Sometimes I walk by a painting that I have not worked on in months and it just begs me to engage with it and caress it with my brush, palette knife or hands, sharing with it what I have most recently experienced.

The architectural influence I have been under for nearly forty years is in my blood and bones. I paint as an anecdote to the practice of architecture, but my methodical inclination and sense of order is not easily abandoned. I hope and trust this geometric based series of paintings appeals to the order in life of which we aspire, offered with a unique and personalized spiritual expression and a certain degree of technical artistic acumen.

This is another in a series of palette knife paintings that I have painted with an uneven black border that gives the viewer the impression that the image is floating. The diversity of impressions and emotions that are evoked result from the different palette of colors and textures that are offered.

The nice thing about triptychs is the variety of ways in which they may be hung- as three individual paintings, 2 different pairs and an individual or as a threesome, and of course horizontally or vertically. I suggest you change the way you hang them on a weekly basis to keep the image fresh and to discover something new in each presentation.

This series of palette knife paintings is inspired with my dear late Mother's memory close at hand. Her artistic encouragement and praise in my childhood doing arts and crafts led me to a career in architecture and art. I'll bet anyone she had the largest collection of pot holders, popscile stick boxes, gold sprayed macaroni key chain holders and ceramic hot plates of any mother in Christendom.
